Last weekend I had a Mini-Session with the adorable Kefalonitis Family when it was 90 degrees in September!
I thought I'd take this opportunity to help you decide what kind of session you'd prefer when hiring a family photographer.
So Mini Session vs. Full Session?
A Mini Session's biggest feature for most families are they are more affordable and give them just enough images for Holiday cards and gifts. They are usually 15-30 minutes long with one location as your backdrop. With most Mini Sessions you receive 5-10 images. Mine include two variations of the family together, headshots of the kids, and a sibling shot. Another positive for Mini's is they allow you to test out a new photographer you haven't used before, before committing to a full session with them.
Full Sessions are usually 60-90 minutes and give the complete experience. I love full sessions because they allow me to fully connect with the family Im photographing. Within 20 minutes they have forgotten about the camera and the kids have warmed up to me. That's when the magic begins. I am not a traditional, posing photographer, so I need time to capture what makes you a unique family.
Full Sessions include multiple locations, most photographers offer a wardrobe change, and most photographers will take photos of every variation of your family together. There is time for 3-4 family shots, Mom & kids, Dad & kids, kids headshots, siblings, candids, parents together, and storytelling detail shots. My Full Sessions galleries usually include 50-70 images. With a gallery of images like this you have so many options for displaying your images. I can help you with what products to choose and how to display them. But most important you have a created a family heirloom that will be cherished for generations.
I am now only offering Mini Sessions on specially announced days. Sign-up for my Newsletter to be the first to hear when my X-Mas Mini's will be and have the first opportunity to sign-up for your time slot!
