The morning of an In-Home Newborn Photo Session I am a bundle of anticipation. For a photographer it's an environment rich with emotion, moments, and storytelling details to capture. After Ive gathered up my boppy pillow, fabrics, space heater, and white noise machine I take a moment to get into the right frame of mind. A sort of photography zen. I want to be in the mind's eye of the parents and capture everything they are going to want to remember years from now. I want to capture the details and moments the parents may be too tired to fully notice and appreciate. Like how big sister Audrey loves to touch her baby sister's itty bitty feet.
When I prepare a family for their Newborn Session I stress how I expect them to be nothing but themselves. Nothing about the process should be stressful. It should feel like a cozy Sunday morning with a friend visiting for coffee. Dan and Katie are one or our dearest friends on the planet so this session was especially warm and fuzzy for me.
You would love to do an In-Home Newborn Session but don't have your dream home? No problem. I simply need something for everyone to sit on, a window to let the light in, and your love for that beautiful baby. Ideally I like to do a newborn session in a well-lit bedroom but sometimes that's not possible. The best light in this house was in the dining room. We moved the dining table out of the way and did the whole session right next to the sliding glass doors out to the patio! Looking at these photos you aren't seeing the surroundings unless I want you to. This family is very musical so the only furniture you see is the piano which I intentionally included. No matter what your living circumstances I can make a beautiful In-Home Newborn Session for you.
