FAQ

"...Though I was nervous about having photos takes so soon after birth, the experience was incredible! Emily worked with our oldest daughter (who is incredibly shy) to make her comfortable having her photo taken and was able to capture beautiful photos of our entire family... Emily was very efficient with her time, but we never felt rushed. She was happy to take breaks as we needed for feeding and diaper changes, The whole experience was wonderful and I will treasure the resulting photos for the rest of my life" - Katie Ross Kenzie

What Kind of photographer are you? My work is authentic and soulful with a fine art quality. As a trained fine art painter I imagine your family as art. Rather than light and airy my work is bold, with rich tones and vibrant color, I provide you with both pulled back environmental portraits as well as closer, intimate crops. Images from your session often tell a story, capturing a treasured moment in time. I do not try to make you look perfect, stiff, or unnatural. I want to capture your genuine selves and what makes you a unique family.

Where will my session be held? I am a natural light, on-location photographer. Together we will choose the perfect location for your session. Newborn sessions are held at home.

What is a session like with you?  Before we even meet I get to know you and your kids through a series of short questions. I can then prepare a session experience designed just for you and your vision. My goal is for you to feel prepared and relaxed when you arrive to your session. I promise you won't worry about your child's behavior because I will have prepared you on how I handle everything that could possibly go wrong.

While I don't do traditionally posed photos I do guide and direct you most of the session. I help you and your kids relax and have fun together with music, simple games, jokes, and some goofiness on my part.  I not only want you to receive beautiful photos but also an experience with your family to treasure.

When do newborn sessions occur? I ideally like to do newborn sessions within the first two weeks of life. But that isn't always possible and with lifestyle newborn sessions we have the flexibility to do your newborn session when you are ready.

What should I wear? Be comfortable, be yourself. I recommend not matching but coordinating. Avoid logos or writing on shirts. They distract from your child's sweet face. After booking with me I will help you on all the details of choosing a wardrobe for your family that is easy.

When, where, and how will I get my photos and products? We will meet 2 weeks after your session to view your photos. I will all ready have an idea of your printing goals before we meet from your session interview. Now I will show you how your photos will look on your wall or in albums! I also create slideshows and phone apps of your photos for easy sharing. After you order your collection they will be delivered to you in about a month depending on the product. I give you paper templates for all your wall portraits for easy hanging. You will find I am very detail oriented!

Will I receive Digital Copies of my Photos? Yes I sell digital files plus you receive the digital file for every print you purchase. But I want to make sure your photos don’t get lost or unused on your computer. Digital Files are so popular right now because you want to share your photos and there are so many great online printers now! That’s what I thought too. But what happens is you get overwhelmed with the choices of your photos, of the online printers, how it will look on your walls, what size you should get….The list goes on. So most Moms don’t ever end up printing. Or they do but aren’t happy with the results because the print quality was horrible. Printing through me will save you hours and hours of time, A valuable commodity for any Mom.

How far out are you booked? I book as early as 2 weeks in advance. If you are interested in newborn sessions or a Fresh 48 session in the hospital, please inquire while you are pregnant. Already delivered? No problem. I try to leave openings in my schedule for last minute newborn sessions.

How much does all of this cost? You pay a Session Fee up front and then purchase your prints/digital File Collection after viewing your photos. Full Session Fees Start at $125. Most Families spend between $500-$1100 on their custom designed collection. Go to my Contact Page to Request a Price Sheet.
